Cancellation and refund policy

Last updated 12 October 2026

You can cancel a paid Vakilat plan at any time. When you do, we refund the share of that month's charge that matches the research runs you did not use.

How to cancel

Cancel from Billing in the Vakilat app; the workspace's owners and members with the billing role can do this. The paid plan ends at once and the workspace returns to the Free plan, where you can still sign in, search and read judgments, and read your work.

How the refund is worked out

The refund is the month's charge, GST included, multiplied by the research runs you did not use and divided by the research runs the plan included for that month, rounded down to the paisa. A deep research run counts as five research runs on both sides of that sum. On a plan with several seats, the runs of all seats are counted together.

For example, an Advocate seat costs ₹942.82 a month with GST and includes 12 research runs. If you cancel after using 3, the refund is ₹942.82 × 9 ÷ 12 = ₹707.11.

Searching and reading judgments are free, so they never reduce a refund. Runs that do not count, as the pricing page describes, do not reduce it either.

Changing plan

When you move to another plan or seat count, your current plan keeps running until Razorpay confirms the new payment. It then ends, and its unused share is refunded the same way.

How refunds are paid

Refunds go back to the card, UPI account or bank account you paid from, through Razorpay. Banks usually show them within 5 to 7 working days. Each refund comes with a GST credit note by email.

Cancelling outside Vakilat

If the subscription is cancelled outside the app, for example by stopping the mandate with your bank or card issuer, the plan runs to the end of the month already paid and no refund is due for that month. Cancel from Billing if you want the refund.

Failed payments

If a renewal fails, nothing is charged and nothing is refunded. Paid features continue for up to 72 hours while Razorpay retries the payment.
