# Start free, then pay for the research you run

Every lawyer gets five research runs free. Searching and reading judgments is free on every plan. Paid plans are billed monthly per seat, and you can cancel at any time.

## How billing works

### Founding members

Our first 100 workspaces to take a paid plan keep the price they first paid for 12 months from that first payment, even if our prices change.

### What counts as a research run

A run counts when Vakilat gives you an answer, or when you stop it after the search has begun. A run that ends without an answer from us does not count: when no authority is found, when nothing can be checked, when the question needs more research than one run allows, or when something fails. Questions outside legal research, questions Vakilat asks you back, and runs stopped before the search begins do not count either.

### Search and reading are free

Searching Supreme Court judgments and reading them uses no AI model, so it is free and unlimited on every plan, including Free.

### Deep research

A deep research run works through a larger question at greater length than a standard run. Every paid plan includes some each month: one a seat on Advocate, two on Professional and five on Chambers.

### Seats and colleagues

Paid plans are priced per seat. To work with colleagues, turn your workspace into a practice and buy a seat for each of them, from 1 to 50. Document storage belongs to the workspace.

### Unused runs

A month's research runs do not carry over, and extra runs are not sold separately. If you run out, you can wait for the next month or move to a larger plan.

### GST and invoices

Prices are shown before 18% GST, which is added at checkout. Every payment gets a GST invoice by email. Add your GSTIN in Billing to claim input tax credit. Vakilat is a product of NESTCLIP PRIVATE LIMITED, so payments and GST invoices are in that company's name.

### Paying and renewing

Plans renew monthly through Razorpay. If a renewal fails, paid features continue for up to 72 hours while Razorpay retries. After that you can still sign in and read your work.

### Cancelling

Cancel from Billing whenever you like. The paid plan ends at once, and we refund the unused share of that month's research runs. The [cancellation and refund policy](https://www.vakilat.io/refunds) has the details.
